Since its establishment in February 2011, Marsa proved to be a real anchoragei and a haven for many groups of healthcare seekers in the Lebanese capital, Beirut, and beyond. This pioneering sexual health center not only offers comprehensive services, but also focuses on doing so in a safe, welcoming, accessible and friendly environment. It is incontestable that the Center’s priorities respond to a tremendous need for accessible and patient-friendly sexual healthcare in Lebanon, a reality repeatedly underscored by a number of studies and fieldwork reports. One of these studies was supported by the Ford Foundation and marked the beginning of the Center. The study highlighted a severe lack of access to health services in Lebanon for the LGBT community and single female patients, as well as the need for sexual health centers.
